| Perhaps the most popular of all Pantomime subjects, with its traditional Ballroom scene, its beautiful transformation to the land of the Crystal Slipper and its Fairy Coach. This version of Cinderella has proved to be a box office winner and a pantomime of considerable reputation, having played both London and the provinces to capacity houses and rave press reviews for many years. The show requires a strong Dame as Baroness as well as two grotesque Dames as the Ugly Sisters. The original Cinderella in this version was in fact Gemma Craven who went on to create the same role in the celebrated film 'The Slipper and the Rose'. The touching Kitchen scene between Buttons and Cinders is a particularly strong feature of this script. |
